Privacy
Personal data is processed only to the extent required for operation, security, contact, booking, supporter status, community functions or legal obligations.
- Contact and message data when you contact us by email or form.
- Technical access data required for operation, security and error analysis.
- Purchase and payment status from PayPal to the extent required for membership, access or supporter status.
- Community and account data when you use the internal area or forum.
- News topics and regions voluntarily selected by members to personalise the news overview.
- Handbook reading progress, bookmarks and private section notes voluntarily saved by members.
Private Handbook Notebook
Signed-in members can voluntarily save their latest reading position, bookmarks and one private note per handbook section. These data are used only for the personal notebook and are stored for the relevant account in our Cloudflare D1 database. They do not appear in the public handbook, public caches, Google Analytics, Cloudflare Web Analytics/RUM or error logs and can be accessed only by the signed-in member.
Under My Handbook, members can view their own data, export them as a JSON file, and delete bookmarks, individual notes or the complete notebook. The data remain stored until the member deletes them or the associated account is deleted. Notes should not contain passwords, card or bank-account details, or other sensitive access credentials.
“Who is online?” display
The community status shows an approximate number of guests and signed-in accounts currently active on the website, the total number of registered community members and, where applicable, the profile names of active signed-in community members. The browser creates a random identifier for this purpose. It is stored only locally, expires five minutes after the last activity and, while the page is visible, is sent to our Cloudflare Worker no more than once per minute. If a session exists, the browser automatically sends the same-origin session cookie and it is verified only on the server; the script does not read it. This function does not transmit the page being viewed, Google Analytics identifiers or device information.
The Worker stores in Cloudflare D1 a hash of this random identifier, the last activity time and, for a verified sign-in, the internal account ID. Records older than 24 hours are removed during the daily clean-up. The community total comes from Discourse. “Online now” shows the names of signed-in accounts active within the three-minute window; email addresses, roles and session keys are not returned. Processing is based on our legitimate interest in a data-minimising, current community display (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR). Cloudflare also processes access data technically required to deliver the request under its privacy terms.
Payments
Supporter payments are processed through PayPal. Supporters do not receive a separate invoice from Auswandern mit Goetz; PayPal sends the payment confirmation. PayPal subscriptions can be managed or cancelled through PayPal.
Service Providers
External services may be used for delivery, security, advertising, payments, email, community or embedded content, in particular Cloudflare, Google, PayPal, Discourse, YouTube and Facebook. These providers may have their own terms and privacy rules.
The external-link and guestbook submission forms use hCaptcha to protect against automated submissions; this may involve processing the IP address and browser and device data. Protected account and payment operations may also use Cloudflare Turnstile to prevent automated access. More information is available in hCaptcha’s Privacy Policy and Cloudflare’s Privacy Policy.
The video meeting uses the Jitsi Meet service provided at meet.auswandernmitgoetz.de. Technical data required to establish the connection is processed only when you open the video room. The browser uses your camera and microphone only after you grant permission.
Google AdSense and Consent Management
Google AdSense, a service provided by Google Ireland Limited, is technically prepared and will be activated only after the website is approved. Once AdSense is active, ads will appear as clearly labelled, manually defined and responsive modules within the page layout. Their number and position will depend on the relevant page family; ads will not be inserted into editorial paragraphs. AdSense can then deliver advertisements and measure their reach, viewability and interaction. Depending on your choice and the rules that apply to you, personalised, non-personalised or limited ads may appear. Auto ads, ads within editorial paragraphs, and anchor, vignette or overlay ads are disabled on this website.
For visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, we use Google’s certified Consent Management Platform under IAB TCF 2.3. It asks for your decision before the relevant processing and offers “Consent”, “Do not consent” and “Manage options” on an equal basis. If you do not consent, the website remains usable; where legally and technically permitted, Google may deliver non-personalised or limited ads.
In connection with advertising, Google and the advertising technology providers named in the consent dialogue may process, in particular, your IP address, device and browser information, identifiers, approximate location, ad impressions and interactions, and your consent decision. Cookies, local storage and similar technologies may be used for this purpose. The purposes include ad delivery, reach and performance measurement, fraud prevention, security and – only with the required consent – personalisation.
You can change or withdraw your decision at any time through “Cookie settings” at the bottom of the page. From there, you can separately reach Google advertising and cookie settings and this website’s analytics settings. The change applies to future processing. For more information, see Google’s Privacy Policy, Google’s information about advertising and the technologies used, and My Ad Centre.
Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4, provided by Google Ireland Limited, to analyse page views, usage and technical quality. Google Analytics is loaded only after you allow analytics under “Cookie settings”. Before that choice, this integration sends no Analytics requests to Google. All permitted page areas use the same web data stream so that a visit is not counted as a separate session by multiple streams. On the interactive 3×3 homepage, each selection screen that is actually displayed counts as a page view. Only fixed screen names and destination identifiers are transmitted, not free-form input or complete destination URLs.
After consent, this web data stream also covers login, account, checkout and community pages. It receives only normalised page types and fixed events such as login result or checkout step. Technical request and JavaScript failures are not sent to Google Analytics. Exact community topic and profile paths, URL query parameters, fragment identifiers, form content, email addresses, user, order and payment identifiers, error messages and stack traces are not sent to Google Analytics. Administration, partner, trainer and operations areas of the main application remain excluded. Automatic site-search and form-interaction measurement is disabled.
If you consent, processing may also include shortened technical access data, device and browser information, the approved page path or page type, page title and approximate region. Google Signals and advertising personalisation are disabled. You can change your choice at any time through “Cookie settings”. When consent is withdrawn, accessible Google Analytics cookies for this website are deleted and no further Analytics page views are loaded.
Cloudflare Web Analytics / RUM
Cloudflare Web Analytics / RUM measures technical page views, loading times and Web Vitals on public editorial pages, normalised login, account and checkout page types, and across all community page types, including login, topics, profiles, search, video and community administration. Before transmission, protected paths are normalised in the browser exclusively to fixed page types such as account, checkout, community topic, profile, login or administration. Exact topic, profile, search, login, account, order, invitation, activation, password-reset or token paths, URL query parameters, user identifiers and content data are not transmitted; measurements that cannot be normalised safely are discarded. RUM remains disabled on the main website’s administration, partner, trainer and operations pages. The measurement does not access cookies or other browser storage, does not use an advertising identifier for this website and is not used to build an advertising profile. More information is available in Cloudflare’s Privacy Policy.
Technical error diagnostics
When a JavaScript or request failure occurs, the website sends no more than five strictly limited diagnostic events per page view to our Cloudflare Worker. These events contain only a normalised page area, release identifier, error class, script file with line and column, or a coarse endpoint, status and duration class. Raw messages, stack traces, form data, cookies, local storage values, email addresses and user, order or payment identifiers are not transmitted. The data is used solely for operation and troubleshooting and is processed in Cloudflare Worker logs with limited retention.
Rights of Data Subjects
Under the Philippine Data Privacy Act, data subjects may in particular request access, have inaccurate data corrected, request deletion or blocking under certain conditions, and lodge a complaint with the National Privacy Commission.
Privacy enquiries can be sent by email to [email protected].
